The property at Sheffield was bought as part of 3000 acres purchased to supply the first sugar mill at Tinley Manor. The name Sheffield, is named in honour of Sir Leige Hulett’s birthplace in Sheffield, England. The tramline built by Sir Leige, connecting all these farms to the mill is still in evidence on the property.
Sheffield was maintained as part of the Hulett family’s farming portfolio until it was bought in the sixties by Doctor Rubenstein, as one of two of the most beautiful pieces of land on the North Coast of Natal. After the demise of Glen Anil, this land was bought back by Brett Hulett and has been used as a sugar cane farm ever since.
However, ‘Sheffield’ (as Brett calls it) has always had a special place in his heart because of its history and natural beauty. Brett has always wanted to create something special here, in order to leave a legacy as a 4th generation Hulett. The Hulett Development Company has been formed in order to fulfill this legacy by developing something truly unique in harmony with nature.
