HIMEVILLE FORT MUSEUM VIDEO - HISTORICAL MUSEUM - SOUTHERN DRAKENSBERG - KWA ZULU NATAL - SOUTH AFRICA

The Himeville Fort Museum was originally built as a laager in 1896, after the Le Fluer Rebellion in East Griqualand. Completed as a fort in 1900, it was used as a prison until 1972, when it became a museum. Exhibits include San and period pieces of the early settlers of this area. Proudly standing as a national monument on the corners of Arbuckle and George street, Himeville, the museum is open from 9am to 12.30pm, Tuesdays to Sundays. Guided tours for visitors and special interest groups alike can be arranged through the curator. Whilst no entrance fees apply, the Himeville Fort Museum welcomes donations.
